Intro to Gainbridge & Annuities
You're not locked out of your own money. Every Gainbridge Save account lets you withdraw up to 10% of your account value each year, penalty free. If you need more than that before your term ends, an early withdrawal fee and market value adjustments apply to the amount above 10%. If you change your mind entirely, you can cancel within 30 days of opening for a full refund of your principal balance. And once your term matures, you can withdraw your full balance with no fees at all. However, if you are under 59 ½, an IRS early withdrawal tax penalty may apply to a withdrawal from a Gainbridge Save Retirement Account.
Once you have an active policy, your guaranteed interest rate is locked in for your entire term, no matter what happens to rates afterward. Gainbridge's rates apply to new accounts and can move up or down over time based on market conditions, but a rate change never touches an account you've already opened. When your term matures, you'll have the choice to renew at the rate available then, choose a new term, or withdraw your full balance without any fees. For tax deferred annuities, withdrawals made before 59 ½ may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty.
No. Gainbridge Save is a fixed annuity, not a bank deposit account, so it isn't FDIC insured, the same way stocks, bonds, and other insurance products aren't. Instead, your principal is protected in two ways: 100% principal protection built into Gainbridge Save, and the financial strength of the issuing insurance company, which holds an A- rating from AM Best. Gainbridge Save is backed by Gainbridge Life Insurance Company, and your money is invested conservatively rather than exposed to market risk.
Group 1001 owns Gainbridge. Group 1001 is an insurance holding company. You still open and manage your account directly with Gainbridge, online, with no broker or middleman in between.
Yes. Gainbridge is an insurance company, part of Group 1001, that has been open since 2018 and holds an A- (Excellent) rating from AM Best and a 4.5 out of 5 stars “Excellent” rating on Trustpilot. Group 1001 manages $86.1 billion in assets and serves more than 540,000 active policies. Every Gainbridge Save account is backed by Gainbridge Life Insurance Company, and your money is invested conservatively to protect what you put in.
Yes. Gainbridge was founded in 2018 and is a proud subsidiary of Group 1001, which has approximately ${AUM_DOLLAR} billion of combined assets under management as of ${AUM_DATE}. Gainbridge Life Insurance Company, the issuing company for Gainbridge annuities, is also rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best and rated "Excellent" on Trustpilot by Gainbridge customers.
No. Gainbridge Save is a fixed annuity issued by Gainbridge Life Insurance Company, while CDs are issued by banks. However, the Traditional option works similarly to a CD with fixed rates and interest taxable as earned.
Most annuities are tax-deferred, meaning your interest grows without being taxed until you withdraw.
Gainbridge offers both:
Retirement Save (tax-deferred) - Interest grows tax-deferred. Withdrawals are taxed as ordinary income.
Traditional Save (non-tax-deferred) - Gainbridge created the first non-tax-deferred annuity on the market. Interest is taxed annually, just like a CD. This gives you the guaranteed growth of an annuity with the familiar tax treatment of a CD.
A fixed annuity guarantees your rate for the full term. A fixed indexed annuity links your returns to a market index (like the S&P 500). Your principal is protected with both, but indexed annuities have variable returns based on market performance.
A fixed annuity offers guaranteed growth at a fixed rate. A variable annuity’s returns are based off the underlying sub-account investments which are linked to market performance, which means your balance can go up or down.
Both offer fixed interest rates and protect your principal. Fixed annuities often have higher rates and provide more flexibility in how earnings are taxed. CDs are FDIC-insured, while fixed annuities are backed by the issuing insurance company's financial strength.
Guaranteed growth at a fixed rate, principal protection (your balance can't decrease due to market conditions), predictable returns you can plan around, and flexibility in how your earnings are taxed. Annuities can provide guaranteed income in retirement and death benefits for beneficiaries.
A MYGA is a type of fixed annuity that offers a guaranteed interest rate for a specified period, usually ranging from 3 to 10 years. It provides stable, predictable returns and either tax-deferred or non-tax-deferred growth, depending on which option you choose. Gainbridge Save is a MYGA.
A fixed annuity is a contract between you and an insurance company. You make a deposit (called a premium), and in return, your money earns a guaranteed interest rate over a set period of time. At the end of your term, you can take your balance as a lump sum, convert it to regular payments, or roll it into a new annuity.
Gainbridge Save is a fixed annuity that locks in a guaranteed interest rate for 3-10 years. Your principal is protected, which means your balance will never go down due to market conditions. You choose your account type: Traditional or Retirement.
If you have a Save Retirement account funded with qualified retirement money (like an IRA or 401(k)), you'll need to take Required Minimum Distributions once you turn 73. RMDs are not subject to early withdrawal fees or market value adjustments, even if they exceed your 10% free withdrawal amount.
You start earning interest on the day we receive your funds. For bank transfers, this is typically 2-5 business days from when you initiate funding. For retirement transfers, it's usually when your previous institution releases the funds. Your interest rate is locked from the day you submit your application, and you'll earn that rate from the day we receive your deposit.

Your designated beneficiary will receive the full account value. Your designated beneficiary will receive the contact value plus any applicable interest, less premium or similar tax, as applicable provided the annuity hasn’t converted to a settlement contract. As long as you have a designated beneficiary (other than an Estate), there are no probate delays, reductions, or early withdrawal fees.
Interest compounds daily. Your guaranteed rate is an annual rate that you earn by keeping your money in the account for the full year.
If you withdraw before the end of your term, your earned interest will be less than the full annual rate since the compounding effect builds over time.

California's insurance regulations generally don't allow the MVA feature on fixed annuities. In line with that, we only offer California residents the version of this product with Principal Protection and no MVA, and terms are capped at 9 years instead of 10.
Anyone 18 or older, in every state except New York and Puerto Rico. For Flex specifically, the age window runs 18 to 90 — no owner or annuitant can be over 90 at the time you apply.
Yes. You have 30 days from the date your contract is issued to cancel and get your money back, less any withdrawals you've taken. Your contract is issued when your funds arrive, so the 30 days start then, not from the day you signed.
The window applies to the contract as a whole, not to each deposit. If you add money six months later and change your mind, that deposit is subject to the early withdrawal fee like any other. The 30 days doesn't restart.
$100 to open, and you can add as little as $50 at a time.
There's no minimum for any single term, so you can split one deposit across several if you want.

Depends on whether you have Flex or Retirement Flex. Flex is taxable as you go — the interest credited to your annuity each year counts as taxable income whether or not you touch it. Retirement Flex is tax-deferred, so you don't owe anything until you withdraw, and then it follows the rules of whichever type you picked (Traditional, Roth, or Non-Qualified). Since this affects your tax return directly, talk to a tax advisor about how it lands for you specifically.
Daily on money in your terms and your Cash Wallet. The rate we quote you is an annual rate, but you only earn the full amount by keeping your money in for the whole year — compounding builds gradually, so pulling money out early means you'll have earned less than that annual rate implies.
A fixed annuity offers guaranteed growth at a fixed rate. A variable annuity’s returns are based off the underlying sub-account investments which are linked to market performance, which means your balance can go up or down.
There are no annual or maintenance account fees and no sales commissions. We don't charge you to open an account, hold one, or add money to it.
The costs that exist are tied to taking money out of a term before it ends. Withdrawing more than your annual 10% free amount brings an early withdrawal fee and, in most states, a market value adjustment and, for Retirement Flex, an IRS tax penalty for any withdrawal before age 59 1/2. In California and Nevada, a state premium tax also applies if you fully withdraw your contract or convert it to income payments.
Because we don't pay agent commissions, more of what your money earns goes to your rate.
A fixed annuity guarantees your rate for the full term. A fixed indexed annuity links your returns to a market index (like the S&P 500). Your principal is protected with both, but indexed annuities have variable returns based on market performance.
The main difference is how your interest is taxed. The two products work the same way, but Retirement Flex grows tax-deferred.
With Flex, your interest is taxable in the year it’s credited. Because IRS early withdrawal penalties don’t apply, Flex can work well for goals before retirement. With Retirement Flex, your interest grows tax-deferred and is designed for retirement savings. How withdrawals are taxed depends on the type of account you set up.
Everything else works the same way. Same terms, same minimums, and each account has its own Cash Wallet. Rates are set separately for each product, so check the current rate for the account you're opening.

Annuitization is the process of converting your annuity into a stream of regular income payments, often for life. You can choose to annuitize anytime after one year of your contract issue date, including at the end of your term.
Gainbridge Life Insurance Company holds an A- (Excellent – Negative Outlook) financial strength rating from AM Best. That's the 4th highest rating out of 16.
AM Best is an independent rating agency that evaluates insurers on their ability to pay claims. The rating reflects an assessment of the company's balance sheet, operating performance, and business profile.
You can look up the rating yourself at www.ambest.com. Financial strength ratings are current as of 9/10/2026 and are subject to change.

When you buy direct, you typically get a better rate, because we don’t pay agent commissions, so we can pass those savings on to you in the form of a competitive interest rate.
You also control the process and timeline. You can research, compare, and purchase on your schedule, with no meeting and no follow-up call. Our experienced team is available if you have questions on how our annuities work, but they don’t provide individualized advice.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your account, including password protection, encryption, two-factor authentication, and regular security audits.
We invest the money you deposit and keep a small portion of what those investments earn.
Our investments are in public and private markets, mostly corporate bonds, mortgage-backed securities, and similar instruments, selected through fundamental credit analysis and matched to the terms of the contracts we write. Most of the return goes to you as your interest rate. We keep a spread to cover our costs and run the business.
We don't charge account fees or pay sales commissions, which is why more of the return can reach your rate.

You buy directly from us online, which means we don't pay agent commissions or broker fees. Those savings go straight to your rate.
No. You open your annuity account directly on our website, without going through an agent or broker. That keeps costs down and puts you in control. During the application process, you’ll determine if the annuity is a good fit for your needs.
Our US-based team is available by phone, email, or chat if you have questions about how our annuities work, but they don’t provide personalized advice.
Yes, you’re not limited to one. Each Gainbridge: FlexSM and Gainbridge: Retirement FlexSM enrollment you open is its own contract (you’ll see it called an “account” in the portal). You can open more than one Flex account, more than one Retirement Flex account, or both — each is a separate contract.
Important note: different tax qualifications need their own contract. For example, IRA funds and non-qualified funds can’t share a single contract, and a Traditional IRA and a Roth IRA can’t share one either — each tax qualification gets its own contract.
Also worth knowing: our $2,000,000 cap is shared across every contract you hold, combined — opening a second one doesn’t buy you more room.
Yes. You can cancel your application at any point before your contract is issued. Just contact us at 1-866-252-9439 or email team@gainbridge.io. There isn’t a hidden one, but here’s what you should consider when evaluating annuities.
Your money is committed for the term you choose, whether that’s 1 year or 10. Each year you can withdraw up to 10% of what you’ve put into terms without a charge, and anything in your Cash Wallet is available anytime with no fee. Taxes may still apply to those withdrawals. Beyond that, taking money out before a term ends costs you an early withdrawal fee and, in most states, a market value adjustment as well.
Those charges can mean you get back less than you put in, depending on how rates have moved and how early you withdraw. A market value adjustment can also work in your favor if rates have fallen. That’s the tradeoff for a guaranteed rate. If you leave the money in through the end of your term, those charges don’t apply.
Your rate is guaranteed for your term, not forever. When a term ends, you can withdraw your money or renew at whatever rates are current then, which could be higher or lower.
And this isn’t a bank account. It’s an insurance contract, so it isn’t FDIC insured. It’s backed by the claims-paying ability and financial strength of the issuing insurance company.
If you want to talk any of this through, give us a call. You’ll reach an experienced person on our team, not a salesperson working on commission.
Withdrawals of taxable amounts from any Retirement Flex account are subject to ordinary income tax and may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty, unless an exception applies.
Gainbridge℠ is a digital platform for buying annuities directly, without an agent.
An annuity is a contract with an insurance company that can pay you a guaranteed interest rate for a set period. It's a product that has traditionally been sold through agents and brokers who earn a commission on the sale. We removed that layer, which is how we can offer higher rates than you'll typically find through an advisor.
You open and manage your account online. Our experienced team is available by phone if you want to talk to someone.
